Open University Vice Chancellor to speak on distance learning
at eZeSchools sponsored seminar

Professor Brenda Gourley, Vice Chancellor of the Open University, will be speaking on ‘Distance Learning : closer than you think’ at the national conference of the Independent Schools Council (ISC) in London on Wednesday 21 March 2007. She will be sharing news of the OU’s OpenLearn initiative which uses its new Moodle* platform.

The OpenLearn website has recently been updated with hours more content and a new design. Since the official launch in the autumn of 2006, subjects such as accessibility, developing countries in world trade regime, inclusive education and the Holocaust have been added to the learningspace. With over 100 learning hours of new content in the latest release, visitors to the website have grown from 23,000 in the first week of launch to over 150,000. Word of the site has spread as far afield as Vietnam and Australia.

eZeSchools is delighted to be sponsoring this session by the Open University. Likeminded organisations such as the OU and eZeSchools are conscious that the arrival of new information technologies totally change the role of the educational institution and the educational process. They have realised that they must grasp opportunities for the advancement of education rather than face the spectre of obsolescence.
